About Institute

Institute for Public Administration Prague is a state allowance organization established by the Ministry of Interior. There are two main roles, which we are in charge of.

For training of  officials in territorial self-governing units and in compliance with the Act No. 312/2002 Coll. ”About officials of territorial self-governing units“ we are a body of public administration, which methodologically manages and coordinates the area of special professional competences as a qualification precondition for the execution of state administration in delegated powers, including testing this competence with exam. Simultaneously, we provide a wide range of training programmes for the proliferation of qualification.

Since 2010 we also prepare training events for civil servants according to valide legislation.
 
We prepare and realize approximately 600 training events for almost 11000 officials per year. The whole training is realized through accredited training programmes. These programmes are designed and realized subsequently by our skilled employees in cooperation with external experts. Continuously, we modernize our activities, utilize new androdidactic principles a state of art technologies in order to optimalize the training in courses. It requires not only a permanent modernization but also a continuous work with lecturers.  

Our seat is located in the centre of Prague, while a significant amount of courses is held in our training centre in Benešov (approximately 50 kilometres from Prague). The training centre is fully equipped with modern classrooms and the large congress hall as well as it disposes of accommodation and catering facilities for courses participants.  

We are also active in the area of international cooperation. We cooperate with several foreign institutions on the bilateral level and we organize study visits for foreign public administration officials in order to present them the system of training and other current challenges and trends in the public administration of the Czech Republic. Furthermore, we are members of well-renowned European public administration networks such as European Network of Training Organisations for Local and Regional Authorities (ENTO) or The Network of Institutes and Schools of Public Administration in Central and Eastern Europe (NISPACee) and our representatives regularly participate on Directors of Institutes and Schools of Public Administration (DISPA) meetings.
Moreover, we have been focusing on international project initiatives and currently in cooperation with our partners and within Lifelong Learning Programme/Leonardo da Vinci we are realizing the project dealing with a topic of ethics in public administration.
